An Unforgettable Gastronomic Voyage through Bold Vegan Creations
Slutty Vegan is a fast casual concept that has already made waves with its groundbreaking fast casual concept, spearheaded by the visionary Pinky Cole. Undeterred by the notion that vegan fare must be modest, Cole's mission is to create the first and only 100% vegan haven reminiscent of the fast-food giant, McDonald's. In the heart of Brooklyn, we ventured to the newest location to indulge in a diverse selection of enticing offerings.
We began with an impressive burger lineup: “The One Night Stand,” “The Fussy Hussy,” “The Sloppy Toppy,” “Super Slut,” “Dancehall Queen,” and the “PLT.” Furthermore, we decided to explore beyond the burger offerings and dived into a captivating assortment of sandwiches including: “The Sneaky Link” plant-based chili hot dog, “The Big Dawg” plant-based bratwurst, “The Chik'n Head” chicken sandwich, and “The Hollywood Hooker” Philly cheesesteak.
One cannot understate the genius behind Slutty Vegan's choice of Hawaiian buns. The buns were a culinary delight–moist, airy, and subtly sweet, offering a texture that was nothing short of exquisite. They served as the ideal canvas to encase the plant-based burgers, and the toppings provided an array of incredible flavors, ranging from plantains to caramelized onions and they were all artfully topped with the signature Slut Sauce. Every bite was an immensely satisfying experience.
Now, let us turn our attention to The Hollywood Hooker—a departure from the burger realm, for it embodies the essence of a Philly cheesesteak. This creation held a special place in our hearts. Resembling a true masterpiece, the vegan sliced meat perfectly emulated the iconic Philly style, harmonizing with a symphony of jalapeños, bell peppers and caramelized onions, topped with vegan provolone, lettuce, tomato, ketchup and vegan mayo—it was a stroke of sheer brilliance. Most vegan Philly cheesesteaks fall short of expectations, but not The Hollywood Hooker. One cannot help but marvel at the extensive R&D that went into refining the texture, flavor, and overall composition of this sandwich.
The Chik'n Head, though named after poultry, evoked a nostalgic taste akin to McDonald's iconic fish filet sandwich with a twist. A symphony of buffalo sauce, pickles, ranch, and coleslaw gracefully danced together, entwined with the heavenly embrace of Hawaiian bread. Truly an ingenious creation that ranks supreme in fast casual delicacies.
We concluded our voyage with The Big Dawg and The Sneaky Link, the former being our initial foray into bratwurst-style plant-based hot dogs. While we typically do not favor this genre, it would be remiss not to mention the testimony of a nearby carnivorous diner who proclaimed the authenticity of these bratwursts. Remarkably, even as non-aficionados, we found these hot dogs to be a revelation of flavor and craftsmanship.
No fast casual adventure would be complete without a fitting finale. As such, we savored the luscious banana pudding, punctuated with delicate wafers that added a delightful crunch. It was a glorious conclusion to the journey.
A resounding recommendation to experience Slutty Vegan is warranted. This establishment possesses an undeniable allure, evoking a nostalgic journey to the indulgent childhood fast food delicacies we once cherished, now impeccably reimagined with healthful ingredients. Prepare to be captivated by a cornucopia of inventive vegan delights that you won't forget.
