Jaya at the Iconic Setai: Miami Vegan Vice x Luxe

A super-luxe and exceptional gastronomic adventure in South Beach.

Jaya, nestled within the oceanfront sanctuary of The Setai and helmed by the legendary hotelier Adrian Zecha, has garnered much-deserved attention as one of Miami’s most vibrant restaurants.

Imbued with an air of opulence and a commitment to flawless execution, the dining experience at this establishment is nothing short of exceptional. The atmosphere is one of sumptuous luxury, with no detail overlooked in the pursuit of perfection. From the meticulously crafted decor to the attentiveness of the service, every aspect of the experience is designed to transport guests to a world of indulgence and refinement.

Captivated by its exquisite charm, my dining companions and I eagerly indulged in both lunch and dinner.

Our midday foray was nothing short of exceptional, showcasing the masterful fusion of modern Pan-Asian cuisine and breathtaking surroundings. Among our delectable vegan choices were the samosas, which brimmed with the delightful combination of potatoes and green peas, accompanied by a refreshingly cool mint chutney sauce. Additionally, the Japanese leaf salad was a triumph of texture and flavor, boasting tender baby gem lettuce, creamy avocado, crisp radishes, and juicy campari tomatoes, all perfectly harmonized by the rich umami of the aka-dashi miso dressing. The Pad Thai, a classic staple of the genre, was executed flawlessly, the tangy tamarind and the satisfying crunch of peanuts and scallions complementing the tender rice noodles with aplomb. Each dish is a work of art, with the flavors and textures crafted with masterful precision. The ingredients are of the highest quality, sourced with care and consideration, and prepared with a meticulous attention to detail that elevates them to new heights of sensory delight. The presentation is stunning, each plate a veritable canvas of color and composition, offering a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.

However, it was the dinner service that truly astounded, with an atmosphere that was truly awe-inspiring. Nestled within the courtyard of The Setai, we were treated to a mesmerizing array of live entertainment, featuring an array of skilled performers, including aerial artists, fire dancers, and contortionists. The food, presented with a minimalist elegance that seamlessly complemented the Zen sensibility of the hotel, was equally impressive.

As we perused the menu, the crispy and soy-bathed Brussels sprouts, the grilled broccolini, and the pan-seared chive dumplings, which brimmed with the robust flavors of Chinese chives and garlic, all beckoned to us. Although the vegan options were somewhat limited, the accommodating staff happily obliged our request to double up on our orders. It was a small price to pay to bask in the majesty of one of South Beach’s most remarkable hotels, and the food remained equally outstanding, a testament to the culinary prowess of Jaya’s master chefs.

This dining experience is a true feast for the senses, a superlative expression of the culinary arts that will leave even the most discerning of palates utterly delighted.
