Trilly Vegan Cheesesteaks

Trilly, nestled in the authentic Mid-City neighborhood of New Orleans, offers a refreshingly unique concept that sets it apart from the usual tourist fare. Indeed, this local haunt is a bona fide hit, having successfully won over the discerning palates of everyday locals. Trilly’s menu boasts an impressive lineup of five vegan options that are sure to tantalize even the most discerning of diners.

What sets Trilly apart is their unwavering commitment to crafting all of their plant-based meats and cheeses in-house, eschewing the blandness of pre-packaged products. We started with the vegan Far East Philly, a dish that truly captivated us with its myriad of flavors. The steak seitan was masterfully seasoned with a sweet ginger soy sauce, while the addition of fried pickled red onions and vegan cream cheese on an Amoroso’s roll truly made it a standout. The bread was heavenly, too, providing a perfect accompaniment to the dish’s rich and savory flavors.

We then sampled the regular Philly, featuring Steak seitan, sautéed peppers and onions, and vegan cheddar cheese sauce on an Amoroso’s roll. While it was indeed a solid dish, it paled in comparison to the Far East Philly’s inventive flavor profile. The cheese fries were a welcome sidekick to the cheesesteak, rounding out the meal quite nicely.

Overall, we would heartily recommend Trilly to anyone seeking out delicious vegan and indulgent cuisine. While we’re excited to explore their vegan chicken Phillys on our next visit, we must admit that we have serious doubts that anything will be able to top the Far East Philly’s singularly delicious flavor.
